Katie's friends inform Rachel about the legend behind the videotape that was cursed and Becca Katie's close friend was institutionalized after witnessing Katie's death. Katie's boyfriend as well as her two friends also died in strange accidents that same night around 10 midnight. Rachel is taken to Shelter Mountain Inn, where she stays in Cabin 12. This cabin is one where Katie and her companions saw the tape that had been cursed. Rachel finds the mysterious tape and watches it, and then her phone rings. Rachel hears a voice utter "seven days". Rachel seeks assistance from her ex-boyfriend Noah Clay, a video analyst. Then, Rachel discovers that Aidan Noah, her son who was with Noah has watched the tape exactly as Noah calls her and assures him that he trusts her. Rachel is able to find the exact location of the lighthouse. It was located on Moesko Island. Anna Morgan is a cursed horse breeder, appeared on the tape. Rachel discovers that Anna had an adoptive daughter named Samara. She was capable of creating disturbing images in the minds of animals, humans and other objects. Rachel is introduced to Anna's widower Richard, but he makes her go when she begins to ask questions about Samara.
